WHITE WINES: laški rizling,  šipon, sauvignon, beli pinot, renski rizling, chardonnay
WINEGROWING AREA: Ljutomer-Ormož

The Jeruzalem-Ormož winery has 550 hectares (1359 acres) of vineyards on some of the most beautiful sites in the Ljutomer-Ormož area: Jeruzalem, Litmerk, Svetinje, Brebovnik, Vinski Vrh, and Kog. Vines are planted rather wide apart on spacious terraces; this makes the grapes of well nurtured grapevines very aromatic, although somewhat lower than optimal. Laški Rizling is their dominant vine, planted in half of all the vineyards. Šipon is particularly well suited to these sites, and is the winery's second in terms of quantity. Renski Rizling, Sauvignon, Beli Pinot, Sivi Pinot (Rulandec), and Chardonnay are also cultivated with success. The winery maintains its own nursery, producing sapling for its own vineyards and for sale to other growers in the area.

The Jeruzalem-Ormož vineyards yield an average of 3200 tons of grapes annually, and the winery buys a further 1500 tons from private growers. 3.3 million liters (671,860 gallons) of wines are bottled every year, 75% in the quality range, the rest high-quality.

The cellar annually produces 1.8 million liters (475,560 gallons) of Jeruzalemčan, a blend of Laški Rizling, Renski Rizling, Šipon, Beli Pinot, Sauvignon, and Chardonnay. This is a quality wine, aromatic and rather rich in acids, blended to display the characteristic bouquet and flavour of the area.

Connoisseurs love the winery's excellent Šipon with its characteristic hazelnut flavour. Its Renski Rizling, Sauvignon, and Beli Pinot are all aromatic, with a particularly stressed varietal bouquet.

The Jeruzalem-Ormož winery is Slovenia's leading producer of late harvest wines, suhi jagodni izbor, and Ice Wines. Their Šipon Ice Wine 1970 was their first made from this grape, and their 1971 Beli Pinot suhi jagodni izbor is considered legendary.

The cellar began production of sparkling wines in the early 1960's using the Charmat method; their best known brands are Club Slovin and Jeruzalem Sekt.

High-quality wines from the Jeruzalem-Ormož winery are consistently among the best in Slovenia, and most of their bottles proudly display gold medals won at wine fairs in Slovenia and abroad. The winery is the most successful regular exhibitor at the Ljubljana Wine Fair, with a total of eleven Grand Champion titles. In 1978 and 1979, the winery won the title of Maison de Qualit\' e awarded by the Order of St. Fortunat.

     The winery's best vintages are 1971, 1983, 1985, 1990, 1992, and 1993.
