The Vinakras winery of Sežana cultivates forty-two hectares (103.8 acres) of vineyards, growing Refošk, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon. To supplement the yield from their own vineyards they purchase selected grapes from neighbouring growers; the cellar's capacity is four million liters (app. one million gallons).
The Vinakras Kraško Belo is an interesting blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon, and the wine has a rich copper-yellow colour and a full taste; it is at its best straight from the barrel, and as a bottled wine is somewhat pale in comparison. The majority of Vinakras production is Kraški Teran, a wine of consistent quality which has won the winery a number of awards; although good from the bottle, this wine is also worth tasting from the barrels in the Sežana cellar.
The Vinakras specialty is Teranton, an extraordinary wine regaled with highest awards at wine fairs in Slovenia and abroad. The best vintages are 1983, 1986, and 1989.
