Dusan Kristancic is one of the largest private winegrowers of the Brda area, with fifteen hectares (37 acres) of vineyards around Medana on the favoured sites of Breg, Teja, Cerovo, Napoleon, Ruterje, and Klampoc - the last two are in neighbouring Italy. Merlot, Cabernet Frank, and Cabernet Sauvignon are his red wines and represent a minor proportion of his production. Dusan Kristancic grows a wide selection of white grapes popular in the Brda area: the traditional Rebula, Malvazija, Tokaj, and Sauvignon, and the more modern Chardonnay; his specialty is the Manzoni, a crossbreed developed for the specific ampelographic environment of the area which has not been yet officially registered for cultivation in Brda.

Kristancic specializes in the production of fresh wines in keeping with contemporary taste. Oak barrels have almost disappeared from his cellar, and his wines are fermented in stainless steel vats.

Kristancic's Chardonnay is dry, with a perfect varietal bouquet and gentle acids. It is his most successful wine: the 1992 vintage was declared the Grand Champion of the 1993 Ljubljana Wine Fair. Kristancic was the first private winegrower to win this title.

His Tokaj is also excellent: very dry, low in acids, with a stressed almond flavour; this wine should be enjoyed while still young.

Connoisseurs treasure his Cabernet Frank, a richly coloured wine with a full, almost heavy taste. It achieves its pinnacle after three to five years in the bottle.

The best vintages from the Kristancic cellar are 1989, 1991, 1993, and 1994.
