RED WINES:cabernet franc
WHITE WINES: sivi pinot, chardonnay, sauvignon, beli pinot
WINEGROWING AREA: Brda

The Krens' six hectares (14.8 acres) of vineyards are planted on sites around Plašivo near Medana. These are the most western, rather low Brda hills, quite warm and sunny. Cabernet Frank is their only red wine, and white varieties comprise the majority of their production: Sivi Pinot, Chardonnay, Beli Pinot, Sauvignon, and Tokaj. The average annual yield is fifty tons of grapes.

The Kren winery produces four hundred hectoliters (10,568 gallons) of wine per year, some of it blended table wine that is sold open. A third of the production is in the quality range, most bottled as high-quality varietal wines.

The Krens' wines are generally dry, relatively strong in alcohol, and rather strict, with a stressed varietal aroma and a gentle bouquet. Chardonnay, Sivi Pinot, and Sauvignon are consistently their best, having won a number of medals at wine fairs in Ljubljana and Gornja Radgona.

The best Kren vintages are 1990, 1991, 1993, and 1994.
